SRB ties Nepean with last minute goal - Oct 3

It was a chilly early start for the second meeting of Plummer league teams Nepean and SRB with both teams looking for a win to keep pace with EOM.

Nepean was hungry for a good result after a 4-1 drubbing in their previous match and it showed with sustained pressure on SRB in the first quarter. Nepean mounted a

beautiful flowing counter attack from inside their half with center mid Hillary Wright passing the ball to Karina Gruson on right wing, who in turn laid it off to an overlapping Maddy Z.  With a focused intensity Z brought it to the baseline where a brilliant pass to the penalty sport was converted for a goal by Kaia McColgan giving Nepean a 1-0 lead.

As was to be the story of the game, SRB was unfazed and generated a short corner that Sanika Rewankar drove home to even the score at 1-1.

Nepean then executed its own short corner with a rouse that resulted in Kaela Stewart firing home a rebound on a goalmouth scramble for Nepean's second goal.

The teams traded opportunities in the 2nd quarter with SRB goalie Sophie Archambault making a great stick save on a pressing Nepean while at the other end Maddie Fulford held steady on a three on none breakaway.

After a scoreless 3rd quarter Nepean was leading 2-1 to start the 4th quarter.  SRB's Sanika R corralled a loose ball at the top of the dee and rocketed a blast bast Fulford to tie the game.  With only minutes left in the game, Nepean's Hilary W ran off a long corner finding Maddy Z free in the dee for what looked like the game winning goal.

However SRB took charge off the pushback and rushed down the field scoring a goal that was still be celebrated when the end of the game hooter went off.

A very entertaining game appreciated by fans, players and officials.
